Step 1: Setup NVDA Remote in Laptop/PC

Open NVDA Screen Reader in your PC. If you are using NVDA 2024 or older, install the NVDA Remote add-on from the NVDA Add-on Store. (This is found in in-built settings in NVDA 2025 or newer versions). Press NVDA Menu (NVDA Key + N) and go to NVDA menu -> Tools -> Remote Access -> Connect. Select the Allow this machine to be controlled radio button. Enter in the Host field: rtcassistant.forblind.com. Enter a unique password/key (such as your name or a number) in the Key field. Activate the remote connection by pressing OK.

Step 2: Connect to Android phone

To connect PC/laptop to your phone, first download and open Tech Assistant for Blind app from Google Play Store on your phone. After this, among all the features, tap on NVDA Remote Access feature. Leave the same server (rtcassistant.forblind.com) selected in Host. In the Key field, type the same key that you entered in the laptop. Click on Establish Remote Connection button. Step 3: Start controlling and using your PC

• Command Palette: By going to Open Command Palette you can easily execute NVDA Commands, Windows Commands, Media Controls, and Text Selection Commands. * Voice Commands: Tap the Voice Command button and say — like "Windows D" (to go to the desktop) or "Clear" (to delete text). * Custom Keys: You can also add new keyboard shortcuts as per your choice. * Keyboard View: Select Full Keyboard, Short Keyboard or Numpad Layout as per requirement.

Step 4: Create Custom Short Keys (your favorite shortcuts)

Go to the Custom Keys Commands tab inside the Command Palette. Tap on Add New Custom Keyboard Shortcut. Type the name of the command in the Name field (eg: Desktop) and type the command in the Target Command (eg: Windows + D). After this save it. Step 5: Manage Modifier Keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Win Key) Smartly

• Single Tap: Modifier Key will be activated by pressing once and released with the next key.
• Double Tap: The key will be completely locked (as if multiple commands in a row require Ctrl or Alt).
• Triple Tap: The key will become inactive again.

Step 6: Use Gesture Navigation and Quick Options

• To open Numpad: Swipe up with 2-Fingers (Right to Left) on the screen.
• To turn on/off Spoken Feedback (Voice Input):: Swipe 2-Fingers (Left to Right) on the screen.
• Mute Remote Speech: If double sound of Screen Reader is coming from both laptop and phone, then you can turn off one sound from Mute Remote Speech option.
