Compressor shrinks an audio file's size by re-encoding it at a lower bitrate and sample rate, with five presets built around real, common use cases rather than abstract quality labels. "Voice / Podcast" is the most aggressive, dropping to mono at just 32kbps and a 22kHz sample rate for an extremely small file, well suited to speech where music-grade fidelity isn't needed. "Low Quality" and "Medium Quality" step up gradually from there, with Medium specifically described as a good balance for podcasts and speech. "High Quality" holds onto near-transparent sound at 192kbps for when you still want a meaningfully smaller file without a noticeable drop in listening quality. And "Custom" hands you direct control, letting you choose from a full range of bitrates from 16 all the way up to 320kbps and sample rates from 8000 up to 48000Hz, for anyone who wants to hit a very specific target.

After selecting your preset, or dialing in your custom settings, choose your output format from the standard seven options and run the compression.
