Audio Ducking
Audio Ducking, titled "Voice Over Ducking" on screen, solves a specific, common editing problem: when background music plays under narration, the music needs to automatically dip in volume whenever someone is speaking and rise back up during quieter stretches — the same effect broadcasters and podcast editors rely on to keep a voice clearly audible over a soundtrack without hand-riding the volume throughout. Start by picking your "Main Audio (Voice-Over)" — your narration or dialogue, accepted as an audio file or extracted straight from a video — and your "Background Music" track, the one that should duck underneath it. Each picker shows the file's name and duration once selected, with a quick way to remove and replace it if you picked the wrong one.
With both files in place, "Proceed to Settings" takes you into the ducking configuration itself, where a library of thirteen presets covers a genuinely wide range of real situations: Default for general use, YouTube Subtle BG and Podcast Clear Voice for common content styles, Aggressive Duck for loud, noisy backgrounds that need strong suppression, Studio Subtle Duck for a gentle touch on quiet studio recordings, Gaming / Fast Action for quick reactive fades, Ambient Smooth Flow for slow, natural fades on calm material, plus presets tuned for dialogue over action-movie-style backgrounds, crisp tutorial narration, ASMR whisper enhancement, balanced live-stream commentary, and subtle room-tone reduction. A Custom option hands you manual control over every value if none of the presets fit exactly. A Timeline section lets you set a Start Delay, controlling exactly when your voice track begins relative to the music in the final mix.
A live preview player sits at the top of the settings screen throughout, with full transport controls — replay, rewind and fast-forward five seconds, play and pause, and a seek slider — so you can actually listen to how your chosen preset sounds against your real audio before committing to anything. Once it sounds right, choose your output format from the usual format picker in the header and render your finished mix. It's a genuinely capable tool for anyone layering narration over music — audio descriptions, podcast intros, or narrated video soundtracks — without needing to manually ride the volume fader by hand.
