Smart Expense Manager: Accessibility-Friendly Feature of Tech Assistant for Blind App!

Tech Assistant for Blind Foundation has always strived to make technology accessible to the Blind and Low Vision community. In this context, a very useful feature has been provided inside the Tech Assistant for Blind app—Expense Manager. This feature is specially designed keeping in mind the needs of Blind and Low Vision users, which is 100% accessible with TalkBack. With its help, you can keep track of your daily expenses and business transactions yourself without anyone's help. ##How to use Expense Manager? (How to Use Expense Manager?) It is very easy to use this feature. To use this feature, first of all you have to open our Tech Assistant for Blind application and then double tap on Expense Manager from the list of features. As soon as you open it, you will find the heading of Expense Manager at the top. Just below this you get mainly two modes, which you can switch as per your convenience:

1. Personal Mode

This mode is selected by default. Its layout and method of use is as follows:

  • Dashboard: At the top you get the Available Cash Balance card, which shows the total deposit amount (balance) you have.
  • More Options (three-dot menu): In the TOP right corner of the screen, you get a More Options button. Clicking on it gives you three important options which work like this:
    1. Category Manager: From here you can add new categories of expenses as per your choice.
    2. Payment Method Manager: From here you can add new methods or means of payment.
    3. Statement: By clicking here you can see the statement and analytics of your entire expenses.
  • Search Notes: Here Search notes, amount... input fields are given. With its help, you can easily find your old transactions by searching by note name or amount. Right next to it is a filter button. By clicking on Filter, you can also sort your old entries based on Transaction Type, Category, and Payment Method.
  • Transactions: Below are two big action buttons—Cash Out (Expense) to add expenses and Cash In (Income) to add earnings.
  • Form Entry: On clicking these buttons, a form opens, which is very easy to fill:
    • Amount (₹): Here you have to enter the amount or money that you have spent or received.
    • Date: Today's date comes automatically, which you can change as per your need.
  • Category: Clicking on this opens a vertical list from where you can choose the type of expense, like Groceries for household items, Food for food, or General for general expenses.
    • Payment Method: With this option you can choose how the money transaction is done, like UPI / Online for online payment or Cash for cash.
    • Payer / Payee: Here you have to write the name of the person or shop to whom you have given money or from whom you have taken money.
    • Notes / Remarks: Here you can write any small and big information related to expenses to remember.
    • Attach Receipt: This is a special feature where from the Gallery button you can upload the photo of the bill (receipt) already present in the phone, or you can directly take a photo of your bill and attach it from the Take photo from camera button.
    • Save Button (Most Important): After filling the entire form correctly, do not forget to click on the Save button given at the bottom right side of the screen. As soon as you click on this, your entry will be saved.

2. Business Mode

If you run a shop, small business or commercial work, then you can switch to Business Mode by clicking on the Personal button (gear icon) given on the top right side. TalkBack announces it's Switch to Business Mode.

  • Dashboard: Here you get the summary box of Receivables From Customers, which shows the net amount which TalkBack announces "You will get/give this net amount". This shows how much money you have to take or give.
  • More Options (three-dot menu): Even in business mode, you get the More Options button in the top right corner. By clicking on it you get these two special options:
