Touring the Home Screen
Once signed in, Home is where every session begins, and it's built to read from top to bottom in a sensible, spoken order. First comes a personal greeting — "Good morning," "Good afternoon," or "Good evening," followed by your name and the full date, such as "Monday, 9 July." There's no ambiguity about who you are or when you are the moment the screen loads.
Directly below sits a weather card. Collapsed, it reads something short and useful, like the current temperature and your city, with a note that you can tap to expand it. Expanding it reveals more: the "feels like" temperature, wind speed and direction, and an air quality figure based on PM2.5 readings. If your exact location wasn't available and the app estimated your weather from your internet connection instead, it tells you so honestly rather than presenting an estimate as fact.
Next comes your notification bell, surfacing anything waiting for your attention — reminders, update notices, and the like — before you even have to ask. Just below that is the search box, labeled "Search for tools..." and reachable directly by your screen reader as "Search tools input." Tapping it opens a dedicated search view, covered in its own section of this chapter.
The bulk of the screen is a scrollable list of tool shortcuts — twenty-seven of them by default, covering everything from Tech Assistant AI and Talking Camera to the Audio Editor Hub and Talking Calculator. Each row announces its icon and name together, and each carries a subtle reminder, "Hold and drag to reorder," letting you know the list isn't fixed in place. A closing line at the bottom, "More features coming soon," is a quiet promise that this list will keep growing.
Finally, look to the top-right corner of any authenticated screen, including Home, and you'll find your account icon. Your screen reader announces it fully: "Signed in as [your name], [email address]. Tap to manage account and settings." Double-tapping it opens a full menu covering your profile, notifications, backup and restore, general settings, app updates, help and feedback, the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, the refund and cancellation policy, and, at the bottom, Sign Out — with a confirmation prompt so an accidental tap never logs you out unexpectedly. On rare occasions, typically right after an update, a modal may appear over Home summarizing what's changed; it can be dismissed once you've read or skipped it.
