Reordering Your Tool Shortcuts

Tech Assistant ships with twenty-seven tool shortcuts on your Home screen in a sensible default order, but there's no reason your most-used tool should sit twelfth in the list just because a designer put it there. The list is fully reorderable, and the app is built to make that reordering trustworthy even without sight.

To move a shortcut, find it in the list and hold your finger on it — a long press of a little under half a second. You'll feel and hear the difference immediately: the app confirms which item you've picked up, announcing something like "[Tool name] selected. Drag to reorder," so there's no doubt about what's now under your finger. From there, drag upward or downward through the list; as you pass over other rows, the app keeps you oriented by announcing your progress, such as "Position 4 of 27. Next to [neighboring tool]." Lift your finger to drop the shortcut into its new spot.

There's no separate "edit mode" to enter or exit, and no save button to remember — the moment you drop an item in its new position, the order is written to your device automatically and takes effect immediately. Close the app, reopen it a week later, and your list is exactly where you left it. If you want to start over, you can always drag items back into their original places one at a time; there's currently no single "reset to default" switch, so treat your first careful reorder as worth getting right.

A practical tip: reorder from a quiet moment rather than mid-task. Because the gesture relies on a sustained press followed by a drag, it's easiest to get right when you're not also juggling another app or a phone call. Once your top few tools — the ones you reach for daily — are near the top of the list, the very first swipe down from the greeting card puts you within a tap or two of exactly where you want to go.
