Searching for a Tool

With well over ninety tools spread across this app, scrolling to find the one you need isn't always the fastest path — often, typing is quicker than swiping. That's exactly what the search box near the top of the Home screen is for. Double-tap it, labeled "Search tools input," and the screen switches into a dedicated search view: a Back button appears in case you change your mind, and a text field waits for you, already focused and ready to type.

Search here is entirely local and instant — nothing is sent over the network, and there's no waiting for results. As you type, the app filters against every tool's name, so partial words work just as well as full ones. Typing "pdf" surfaces every PDF-related tool across the whole app, from the PDF Reader to the entire PDF Manipulation Toolbox; typing "compass" jumps straight to the Vibration Compass; typing "trimmer" finds both the Audio Trimmer and the Video Trimmer at once. The match is case-insensitive, so there's no need to worry about capitalization.

As results update, your screen reader is kept in the loop with a spoken summary — something like "Found 3 tools matching 'pdf'" — so you always know how many matches you're scrolling through before you start. If nothing matches, the app says so plainly, "No results for 'x'," rather than leaving you guessing whether the search simply froze. In that empty state, the screen also offers a few example searches, like "voice recorder" or "translator," as a nudge if you're not sure what to try next.

Once you find the tool you're after, double-tap its result to open it directly — search results behave exactly like Home screen shortcuts in that respect. And if you'd rather abandon the search and return to your regular greeting view, the hardware back button or the on-screen Back control both take you straight there, no matter how far you'd typed.
