Setting Up Your Quick Launch Tab

Of all five bottom tabs, this second one is the most personal, because it isn't fixed by the app at all — it's shaped entirely by you. To configure it, open your account menu from the header and choose Settings, then Quick Action Tab Settings. Two modes are on offer, presented as radio options: "Launch a single feature immediately" and "Show a list of multiple features."

Choose the first option — often called Solo mode — and the tab stops behaving like a normal screen at all. Instead, double-tapping it instantly opens one tool you've picked in advance, such as Talking Camera, with zero extra navigation in between. It's built for the one tool you reach for constantly: point, double-tap, and you're already inside it. To set your tool, tap the "Select Feature" option, which opens a full-screen picker listing every available tool in the app; choose the one you want and it becomes your instant destination from then on. If you'd rather not use this tab at all, the same picker includes an option labeled "Hide this Tab Completely," which removes the tab from your navigation bar entirely.

Choose the second option — Multi mode, and the app's current default — and the tab instead opens a small personal dashboard: a short list of your chosen tools, gathered under a label you write yourself, defaulting to "Accessibility Tools." On the settings screen, a "Custom Tab Label" text field lets you rename it to anything that makes sense to you. Below that, an "Active Features in Tab" list shows your current selections — by default, tools like Talking Camera, Tactile Compass, Ambient Light Detector, Focus Bridge, Talking Calculator, PDF OCR, Image OCR, and the Audio Description workflow. Each row can be reordered by long-press-and-drag or with dedicated up-and-down arrow buttons, and removed with a trash icon. A floating "+" button, announced as "Edit shortcuts list," opens a checklist where you tick or untick tools to add or remove them from your dashboard.

One more toggle on this same settings screen, "Hide Added Tools from Home," is worth knowing about: switch it on, and any tool you've placed in your Quick Launch tab is automatically hidden from the main Home screen shortcut list, so you're never scrolling past the same tool twice. Whichever mode you choose, your Quick Launch tab is meant to shrink the distance between opening the app and doing the one thing you opened it for.
